Global Crude Steel Production Increases by 0.8% in November 2024

In November 2024, global crude steel production for the 71 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) reached 146.8 million tonnes (Mt), marking a 0.8% increase compared to November 2023.

Regional Production Overview:

  • Africa: Produced 1.8 Mt, a decline of 5.0% from November 2023.

  • Asia and Oceania: Output was 107.4 Mt, up 2.0%.

  • European Union (EU 27): Recorded 10.7 Mt, an increase of 3.9%.

  • Europe, Other: Produced 3.4 Mt, down 5.5%.

  • Middle East: Output stood at 5.1 Mt, rising by 2.7%.

  • North America: Produced 8.5 Mt, a decrease of 5.2%.

  • Russia & other CIS + Ukraine: Output was 6.5 Mt, down 7.8%.

  • South America: Produced 3.4 Mt, a decline of 3.4%.

Top 10 Steel-Producing Countries:

  1. China: 78.4 Mt, up 2.5% from November 2023.

  2. India: 12.4 Mt, an increase of 4.5%.

  3. Japan: 6.9 Mt, down 3.1%.

  4. United States: 6.4 Mt, a decrease of 2.8%.

  5. Russia: Estimated at 5.5 Mt, down 9.2%.

  6. South Korea: 5.2 Mt, a decline of 3.6%.

  7. Germany: 2.9 Mt, up 8.6%.

  8. Türkiye: 3.0 Mt, an increase of 0.7%.

  9. Brazil: 2.8 Mt, up 1.9%.

  10. Iran: 3.1 Mt, a slight rise of 0.1%.

These figures highlight the dynamic nature of the global steel industry, with varying production trends across different regions and countries.
