Standard Stainless Steel 317L Plate

Standard Stainless Steel 317L (UNS S31703 / W.Nr. 1.4438) is a low-carbon, high-molybdenum austenitic stainless steel plate. With 3–4% molybdenum additions, it provides significantly greater corrosion resistance to chemical environments—especially sulfurous, acetic, citric, and formic acids—and higher stress-to-rupture strength at elevated temperatures than conventional 316L.

Product Detail

Standard Stainless Steel 317L (UNS S31703 / 1.4438) plates and sheets are heavily specified in flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, pulp and paper bleaching digestors, chemical process vessels, and textile dyeing equipment. Its low carbon content (C ≤ 0.030%) prevents intergranular corrosion during welding, while higher Mo and Cr contents enhance immunity to pitting and crevice attack in acidic chloride media.
